French President Considers Deploying French Nuclear Weapons in Partner Countries

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that France may offer to deploy its nuclear weapons on the territory of its allies as a replacement for the United States. He said this in an interview with Le Figaro after a summit of European leaders in London dedicated to supporting Ukraine.
Macron expressed his readiness to deepen cooperation with European partners in the area of nuclear deterrence.
He admitted that France could agree to deploy its nuclear weapons in partner countries in coordination with their armed forces to compensate for the presence of US nuclear weapons in Europe.
‘Those who want to deepen the dialogue with us will be able to participate in deterrence exercises if necessary. These exchanges will contribute to the development of a true strategic culture among Europeans,’ Macron said.
He emphasised that there is no need to be afraid of discussing nuclear weapons, but the French nuclear doctrine remains unchanged.
In addition, Macron believes that Europe should increase defence spending to 3-3.5% of GDP.
As The Gaze previously reported, world leaders met in London on 2 March to discuss strengthening Ukraine's position, continuing its military support, increasing economic pressure on Russia, as well as achieving a just peace and developing strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
