German Rheinmetall to Manufacture 8 Surgical Stations for Ukrainian Army Worth Tens of Millions of Euros
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has ordered Rheinmetall to supply eight additional Forward Surgical Team (FST) stations for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was reported by the company.
The order is part of an initiative of the German Federal Government. Delivery is expected to begin in 2024 and be completed by the end of 2026.
The order consists of eight turnkey systems equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including an X-ray container, an operating room and an intensive care unit in line with the standards of a modern hospital.
To transport each unit, Rheinmetall is also supplying a mobile component consisting of three Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles trucks with trailers.
The value of the order is estimated at an average of two million euros.
"Rheinmetall medical vehicles are highly mobile, very fast in operation and meet the highest quality standards. The recently placed order underlines that our first deliveries of medical equipment to Ukraine have proven their worth," commented Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall.
In addition to the delivery of the FST stations, a week-long training programme for the relevant Ukrainian staff in Germany is also planned.
In September 2023, Rheinmetall handed over a mobile field hospital with 32 beds for patients, eight of which are intended for intensive care, to Ukraine. At that time, ten Ukrainian soldiers underwent a two-week training course on assembling and disassembling the hospital, as well as transporting and operating it.
The day before, Rheinmetall, Germany's largest defence company, announced unprecedented growth.
As The Gaze previously reported, in July, Rheinmetall received its first state order from the Ukrainian government to build an ammunition plant in Ukraine.
