The world's tallest and shortest women met for the first time in London. Jyoti Amge from India and Rumeysa Gelgi from Turkey enjoyed afternoon tea together at the Guinness World Records Day celebration. This was reported on the institution's Instagram page.

Rumeysa, 27, who holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest woman on Earth, is over 215 centimetres tall. At the same time, 30-year-old Jyoti is only 62.8 centimetres tall and weighs about 5 kilograms. The difference in height between the two women is more than one and a half metres, CNN reports.

Jyoti Amge was born in 1993 in central India. A few years later, it turned out that the girl had congenital achondroplasia (a form of dwarfism - ed.).

She first came to the attention of the general public in 2009 when she appeared on television. During the show, doctors measured the 15-year-old's height, which at the time was only 61.95 centimetres. This is how Jyoti won the title of ‘The Shortest Teenager Among Women’.

The girl loved fashion and make-up. She dreamed of becoming an actress. Later, she appeared in the music video and documentary Bodyshock.

Jyoti has to make her clothes, jewellery and even plates and cutlery to order.

In February 2024, Jyoti met the world's tallest man. The title is held by 41-year-old Sultan Kösen from Turkey. The meeting took place in California (USA).

Rumeysa Gelgi was born in Turkey on 1 January 1997. After her birth, doctors diagnosed her with Weaver's syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes accelerated growth and deformation of the skeleton. Therefore, Rumeysa's childhood was not easy, as the girl needed surgical interventions and physiotherapy.

However, the disease does not prevent her from achieving success. Rumeysa works as a lawyer and public speaker. In addition, she is not afraid to speak publicly about her illness. She is the only person in Turkey who has been diagnosed with this syndrome. Only 27 people in the world have it.

In her free time, she enjoys shopping, swimming, reading crime novels, sightseeing and exploring new places.

Rumeysa is not only listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest woman in the world. She also holds other titles, including having the largest female hands, longest back and ears among women.
