Kallas Warns US Against Recognising Crimea as Russian

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has spoken out against the recognition of the annexation of Crimea by the United States as part of a potential ‘peace deal’.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to UNITED24 Media, citing an interview with Callas for AFP.
According to Kallas, it would be a mistake for the US to consider the recognition of the occupied Ukrainian region of Crimea as Russian territory as part of any ‘deal’.
‘Then Russia will clearly get what it wants,’ the EU's top diplomat said.
She said that the EU, for its part, will never recognise the peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, as Russian.
‘Crimea is Ukraine. For those who are occupied, it is very important that others do not recognise it as Russian,’ Kallas said.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the Trump administration has presented Ukraine with a substantial peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict with Russia. The plan includes significant concessions, such as potential U.S. recognition of Russia's annexation of Crimea and the exclusion of Ukraine from future NATO membership considerations.
