Latvia Blocks 10 Russian Propaganda Sites

Latvia has taken another step to protect its information space and national security by blocking access to ten additional Russian websites. Among them are platforms used to recruit soldiers for Russia’s war against Ukraine, The Gaze reports, citing Delfi.
The decision was made by the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP), following a formal request from a competent state institution and its own evaluation.
The NEPLP concluded that the blocked websites spread Russian propaganda and content that directly undermines Latvia’s national interests and societal cohesion.
According to the official publication Latvijas Vēstnesis, the sites were found to legitimize the occupation of Ukrainian territories, promote a one-sided narrative about the war, and generate informational and societal support for Russian soldiers involved in the invasion.
They also reinforce distorted historical interpretations favorable to the Kremlin and cultivate a positive image of Russia.
The NEPLP emphasized that such content poses risks to Latvia’s interethnic relations, public values, and solidarity with Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This is not the first time Latvia has acted to limit access to pro-Kremlin online platforms amid the ongoing war.
