Legendary Fashion House Versace Up for Sale, Prada Among Possible Buyers
Capri Holdings has put its legendary fashion house Versace up for sale, Reuters reports, citing informed sources.
The reason for this decision was a decline in sales in the luxury segment, which is associated with a reduction in spending on luxury goods among wealthy Chinese citizens.
According to the sources, Capri Holdings has engaged the British bank Barclays to analyse strategic options, including the possible sale of the Versace and Jimmy Choo brands. Potential buyers could include private equity firms and major luxury players.
The Italian fashion house Prada is mentioned among the interested parties. The possibility of selling the entire Capri Holdings is also being considered.
Versace, founded in 1978 in Milan by Italian designer Gianni Versace, remains an iconic brand in the fashion world. Currently, it is led by Donatella Versace, the founder's sister and creative director, known for her luxurious and bold designs, including the famous Medusa motif.
