Louvre Palace and the National Archive of Contemporary Fashion: Ukrainian Designer Ruslan Baginskiy Conquers Paris
The works of the most famous celebrity ‘hatmaker’, Ukrainian designer Ruslan Baginskiy, were presented in Paris, at the Louvre Palace, as part of an exhibition at the Musée des arts décoratif, after which the unique hats will be kept in the National Archive of Contemporary Fashion.
‘Dreams do come true! 9 years ago, I came to Paris for the first time and was amazed by its museums. And yesterday I came to the Louvre Palace to see the opening of the exhibition at the Musée des arts Décoratifs, which features three Ruslan Baginskiy hats! And it's incredible,’ the designer said in a post.
Three hats by Baginskiy from the Baker Boy Cap, Cowboy Hat and Faux-Fur collections were presented at the exhibition stand.
The project was created to mark the 35th anniversary of ANDAM (National Association for the Advancement of the Art of Fashion). It will run until 30 March 2025.
‘This presentation underscores ANDAM's openness to the diversity of fashion, characterised by aesthetic proposals, technical research and craftsmanship, as well as the expression of each creator's personal universe,’ the museum's website says.
Among the invited designers are Martin Margiela, Gareth Pugh, Jeremy Scott, Olivier Guillaume, Louis de Saint Laurent and others.
Ruslan Baginskiy is a Ukrainian designer who created the eponymous headwear brand. He started making his first hats in 2011. He based his silhouettes on the classic forms of Ukrainian hats of the twentieth century and modernised them. In 2016, the brand presented one of its most iconic models, which was named Baker Boy Cap.
Ruslan Baginskiy hats are worn by global stars such as Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and models Bella and Gigi Hadid.
The brand is also appearing in South Korea. It is worn by the pop bands Blackpink and Stray Kids. Baginskiy's hats can also be seen in the fourth season of the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris.
