Lithuania Buys Anti-Tank Grenade Launchers From Sweden For €14 Million
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence has signed a contract for the purchase of Swedish Carl Gustaf grenade launchers, the Lithuanian defence ministry reports on its website.
The Defence Resources Agency of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Swedish company SAAB Bofors Dynamics AB for the purchase of 84 mm Carl Gustaf M4 anti-tank grenade launchers and spare parts.
The contract is worth €14 million and will be delivered in 2025-2026, the ministry said.
The Carl Gustaf is designed to engage armoured targets and enemy manpower.
‘The latest M4 model is shorter and lighter than previous versions of the Carl Gustaf, making it easier to use,’ the statement said.
The Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launchers can be used to support unit manoeuvres and to effectively engage armoured vehicles and have proven themselves on the battlefield, where they provide high efficiency.
Poland is also planning to purchase several thousand of these anti-tank grenade launchers from Sweden for $1.6 billion.
Last March, it was reported that the Swedish arms company Saab received an order for Carl-Gustaf anti-tank grenade launchers from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) worth approximately 60 million euros.
