Lithuania Delivers New Military Aid Package to Ukraine, Including Locally-Made Drones
Ukraine received a new military aid package from Lithuania at the end of last week. This was reported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence. The aid package includes Lithuanian-made drones, as well as thermal imagers and five-tonne telescopic handlers for the army.
‘We cannot slow down the pace of support for Ukraine because to guarantee Ukraine's security is to take care of our own security. We have as much time as Ukraine. We have also eliminated bureaucratic obstacles, so now the support will reach Ukraine even faster,’ said Minister of National Defence Dovile Šakalienė.
This year, the main areas of support for Ukraine are planned: immediate needs (air defence, ammunition, drones, anti-drone), development of the Lithuanian defence industry, and support for the Ukrainian defence industry through financing of weapons produced in Ukraine.
Lithuania will contribute to the Mine Action Coalition, which it co-leads with Iceland, as well as other capability coalitions of which it is a member. Military support will be provided through international funds, collective initiatives, training of the Ukrainian military and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers will continue.
Since the beginning of the war, Lithuania has provided over EUR 754 million in military support to Ukraine. Lithuania's overall support to Ukraine is long-term and has exceeded one and a half billion euros.
