“Lyutyi” Drone Exceeds Range, Hits Orsk Oil Facility 1,400 km Away
The Ukrainian strike drone Lyutyi exceeded its stated range and attacked the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orsk, Russia, damaging a key gasoline and diesel hydrotreating unit.

The Lyutyi drone, which was initially credited with a range of about 1,000 km, demonstrated even greater capabilities in the case of the strike on the Orsknefteorgsintez refinery, reaching a distance of 1,400 km.
At least two drones fell within the city limits, an alarm sounded, and an evacuation of personnel and fire containment were announced at the plant.
Video recordings of the drones' flight show smoke and explosions at the facility. Geolocation analysis by CyberBoroshno confirms that the strike hit the LCh-24-2000 gasoline and diesel hydrotreating unit. As this unit is the final stage of the fuel production cycle, the attack could lead to a deterioration in the supply of gasoline and diesel in the region.
Achieving such a flight range was made possible by technical improvements and optimisation of the Lyuty drone's design, demonstrating the progress of Ukrainian developments in the field of strike unmanned aerial vehicles.
The increase in range is achieved through a combination of technical solutions, including reducing the weight of the warhead, increasing the fuel tank capacity, modifying the engine, and generally lightening the design.
As The Gaze informed earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' unmanned systems unions shot down a Russian Mi-8 helicopter in the Donetsk region using an FPV drone.
