Meloni Pledges Expanded Italian Support for Ukraine

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that her country will expand its support for Ukraine in various areas, from energy to transport, as well as in the field of defence. She made this statement on Thursday after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to European Pravda.
According to Meloni, Italy is already taking bold steps to protect its historical and cultural heritage.
‘We have decided to take a step forward, we are committed to expanding the scope of our activities to some priority areas, such as energy, critical infrastructure, transport, agriculture and health,’ Meloni said.
She added that Italy will continue to support the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people, as it has done so far.
"This support will undoubtedly now also be implemented through relations between the defence industries. This is one of the issues we discussed (with Zelenskyy. – Ed.) and which, as evidenced by the numerous agreements signed today, is becoming increasingly central, and in which we certainly want to continue to invest," said the Italian prime minister, who organised this year's Ukraine Recovery Conference.
‘We are doing this because we understand how important it is to allow Ukraine to continue to defend itself, especially from the increasingly intense and increasingly brutal attacks that Russia continues to inflict on the civilian population,’ Meloni said.
At the Ukraine Recovery Conference on Thursday, Meloni said that Russia's plans to intimidate the civilian population in Ukraine had failed.
Earlier, Rome confirmed that Poland would host the Ukraine Recovery Conference in 2026.
