Mission Impossible: Cinnamon the Capybara Escaped From Zoo in England, No One Can Catch It for Five Days
A capybara named Cinnamon escaped from a zoo in Telford, England. The animal was searched for five days and finally found. Now they are thinking about how to catch it.
This was reported on Facebook by the zoo.
‘On 14 September, our beloved capybara Cinnamon escaped from her habitat and entered the forest belt on the territory of the zoo. On Saturday evening, she managed to get out of the zoo's perimeter fence,’ the zoo said.
The zoo staff reported the escape of the capybara to the local authorities and also asked the townspeople to report Cinnamon if they see her.
‘Under no circumstances should you try to catch the animal yourself. Although capybaras are friendly and inquisitive animals, they should not be approached as they can become unpredictable if disturbed,’ the keepers of the escaped capybara said.
The zoo's team worked around the clock to find the animal, but it was found only on 18 September. It turned out that Cinnamon was hiding in a forest belt in a field less than 200 metres from the zoo.
Despite the attempts to catch it, the animal managed to hide in the dense thickets. The search team decided to set up the traps instead of trying to catch the capybara manually and causing it even more stress or driving it further away.
The traps look like cages with automatic doors. The animal enters and the door closes behind it without causing any harm.
‘We hope to be able to bring her back in the next few days,’ said zoo owner Will Dorrell.
