Monobank to Cover University Education for Teen Freed After 9 Years in Russian Captivity

Monobank announced its support for a Ukrainian man who spent nine years in Russian captivity and recently returned home. The bank will pay for his education at any higher education institution in Ukraine that he chooses.
The Gaze reports this, referring to New Voice.
Monobank co-founder Oleg Gorokhovsky announced the decision, emphasizing that the institution will fully cover the costs of his education.
“It is very difficult to even imagine what this boy has been through. Monobank will pay for his full tuition at any Ukrainian university that Bohdan chooses. Welcome home!” Gorokhovsky wrote on Telegram.
On August 14, during a prisoner exchange, civilian hostage Bohdan Kovalchuk was released from Russian captivity. He had been detained by the occupiers in 2016 when he was 17 years old.
The militants accused him of collaborating with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and blowing up cars and buildings belonging to the alleged “Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) police.”
In 2018, the so-called “court” sentenced him to 10 years in prison, after which the young man was sent to serve his sentence in a colony in Torez.
As The Gaze informed earlier, as part of the new, 67th prisoner exchange, 84 people – military personnel and civilians – have returned to Ukraine.
