NATO Secretary General in Poland: Support for Ukraine Crucial for Upcoming Winter
The Allies' joint support for Ukraine in the coming winter and beyond will be “key”. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this during a media briefing with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Wednesday, Ukrinform reports.
‘Joint support for Ukraine today is of key importance both in the coming winter and in the long term. This long-term assistance must continue all the time, and everything possible must be done in this regard. It's about not losing territory, stabilising the frontline and returning the territory that Russia has seized,’ Rutte stressed.
He reminded that North Korean soldiers are now in Russia and Moscow is paying for it.
‘Putin pays for this not only with money, but also with missile technology provided to North Korea, which poses a threat not only to us, but also to South Korea, Japan and the United States,’ the NATO Secretary General stressed.
He added that Russia's military efforts are supported by China, in particular in the context of supplying dual-use goods to circumvent sanctions. According to Rutte, Russia is also supported by Iran, and the money it receives for this allows it to influence the situation in the Middle East.
‘That is why the Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions - Europe, North America, the entire Pacific region with New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South Korea - are becoming one big theatre,’ Rutte said.
He stressed the need to strengthen the defence industry of NATO countries.
