Netherlands Pledges Additional €250 Million for Ukraine Under PURL Initiative
The Netherlands has announced a fresh €250 million contribution to fund U.S.-produced weapons and ammunition for Ukraine, deepening its participation in the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List).
The Gaze reports this, referring to European Pravda.
Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans confirmed the decision ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, noting that this is the country’s second tranche of funding directed to the program.
“I have just announced that we will allocate another €250 million through PURL to support Ukraine,” Brekelmans stated, stressing the urgency of reinforcing Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid relentless Russian airstrikes.
According to the minister, the package will include anti-aircraft missiles for F-16 fighter jets, along with other high-demand munitions needed by Ukraine to respond to escalating attacks on energy infrastructure and civilian areas.
Brekelmans emphasized that swift, large-scale military assistance remains the only effective way to mitigate the consequences of Russia’s ongoing aerial campaign.
The Netherlands previously financed the first €500 million PURL package, becoming one of the initiative’s main contributors. In November, NATO members in Northern Europe and the Baltic region jointly pledged $500 million for the fifth round of support. Shortly afterwards, Germany confirmed an additional €150 million contribution.
As The Gaze reported earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said Ukraine is on track to receive up to $5 billion in U.S.-sourced military equipment under the PURL program by the end of the year.
