New Lithuanian Cabinet, Led by Prime Minister, to Visit Ukraine Next Week
The new Lithuanian government plans to visit Ukraine on 20 December. This was announced on Friday by Prime Minister Gintautas Palutskas, Lrt reports.
‘Yesterday, during my conversation with the Ukrainian Prime Minister, not only I, but also the Cabinet of Ministers received an invitation to visit Ukraine on 20 December, and such a visit is planned,’ Palutskas told reporters.
‘Today, certain logistical and security details are being agreed upon, but the visit will definitely take place,’ he added.
On Thursday, Palutskas spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal.
The two prime ministers discussed support for Kyiv, the security situation in the region, and the need to maintain and increase pressure on Russia and its allies through sanctions.
Earlier, Palutskas said that the new government would pursue a constructive and predictable foreign policy, protect the population from external threats and fully support Ukraine.
Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Lithuania has provided Kyiv with more than €705 million in military aid. According to the Ministry of Defence, Lithuania's total support for Ukraine has exceeded €1.5 billion.
