Nine Killed, Seven Wounded in Russian Drone Strike on Ukraine Evacuation Bus

On the morning of 17 May, Russian troops attacked a bus with a Lancet drone near the town of Bilopillya in Sumy region in eastern Ukraine. According to preliminary information, nine people were killed and seven others injured.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the head of Sumy region, Oleh Hryhorov, on social media.
Medics and rescue services immediately arrived at the scene. The injured are being treated.
Later, the mayor of Bilopillya, Yuriy Zarko, said that the bus in which the Russians killed 9 people in Sumy region was an evacuation bus, Suspilne reports.
A day of mourning was declared in Bilopillya from 17 to 19 May. The mayor called this day a "black Saturday" in the history of the city.
"People were travelling in this bus to evacuate. Outside the city, the bus was hit by a Lancet, guided by a reconnaissance drone. We have 9 dead and 5 wounded... We are now taking the bodies of the dead out... The vast majority are women of retirement age, and 2-3 men were also killed," Zarko said.
The State Emergency Service clarified that the number of victims had increased to seven.
The rescuers used special tools to unblock the bodies of the victims from the mangled vehicle.
