Poland Closes Russian Consulate General in Poznan Due to Hybrid War, Sabotage Attempts
Poland is closing the Russian Consulate General in Poznan due to the fact that the Russian Federation is waging a hybrid war and attempting sabotage.
This was reported by the country's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on the X network.
‘Russia is waging a hybrid war. It is attempting sabotage on Polish territory. My duty as Foreign Minister is to respond decisively. The first step is to close the Russian consulate in Poznan. We will not take a single step back. We are defending the Republic of Poland, we are defending Poles,’ he said in the post.
In total, there are three Russian consulates general in Poland: in Poznan, Krakow and Gdansk.
As The Gaze previously reported, Poland will begin construction of defensive fortifications on the border with Russia and Belarus by the end of 2024 as part of the Eastern Shield project.
Poland plans to strengthen its northern and eastern borders by creating defence lines, surveillance, intelligence and drone defence systems, spending about $2.6 billion by the end of 2028.
