Poland Scrambles Fighter Jets in Response to Massive Russian Missile Attack on Ukraine

Poland has scrambled its fighter jets and placed air defense systems on high alert following a large-scale Russian missile and drone assault on Ukraine overnight, Polish military authorities confirmed.
“In response to Russia’s ongoing attack on Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied aircraft are now active in our airspace,” Poland’s Operational Command of the Armed Forces (RSZ) stated.
The military action includes launching all available quick reaction alert (QRA) fighter jets and placing ground-based air defense and radar systems at the highest level of readiness.
“These measures are intended to ensure the security of regions bordering the areas under threat,” the Polish statement emphasized.
The RSZ added that it continues to monitor the evolving situation closely and that all forces remain fully prepared for immediate action if needed.
Later, the RSZ reported that air operations had been concluded. “Due to the cessation of long-range Russian air strikes on Ukraine, the operations of Polish and allied aviation have ended. Air defense and monitoring systems have returned to their standard operational mode,” the statement read.
“No violations of Polish airspace were recorded,” the command emphasized.
The move comes after Russia launched one of its heaviest airstrikes on Ukraine in recent weeks, killing civilians, including children, and targeting residential and industrial infrastructure across several regions.
As The Gaze previously reported, Russia launched one of its largest air attacks in weeks overnight, striking civilian infrastructure across Ukraine and killing at least 13 people, including three children.
