Russia Launches Massive Overnight Air Assault on Ukraine, Dozens Dead and Injured
Russia launched one of its largest air attacks in weeks overnight, striking civilian infrastructure across Ukraine and killing at least 13 people, including three children, The Gaze reports.
Air defense forces intercepted 45 Russian cruise missiles and 266 of 298 drones, yet widespread damage and casualties were still reported in multiple regions.
The Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS) confirmed that Russian missiles and drones struck or fell in 22 locations, with debris landing in another 15.
In Kyiv region, four people were killed and 16 injured, including three children.
In Zhytomyr region, Russian strikes killed three children aged 8, 12, and 17, and injured 10 more people. Dozens of private homes were damaged or destroyed.
Khmelnytskyi region reported four fatalities and five more injured with shrapnel wounds. Six homes were demolished and over 20 damaged.
In Mykolaiv, a missile hit a five-story residential building, killing one and injuring five, including a teenager. Two floors of the building collapsed entirely.
Kharkiv saw three injuries and damage to an office building and a civilian enterprise.
In Ternopil, a cruise missile strike damaged a major industrial facility.
Dnipro region firefighters extinguished a blaze that destroyed 20 vehicles at a parking lot in a residential area.
Sumy region (Konotop) suffered damage to infrastructure and partial power outages.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the assault as the “most massive Russian air attack in many weeks.”
“When the entire world calls for an end to the killing, Putin orders even more strikes, attacks, and murders of children,” Sybiha said.
He stressed that this assault underscores “the imperative of a full, unconditional, and durable ceasefire for any meaningful peace effort,” urging the international community to pressure Russia to halt its atrocities
