Poland to Receive $2 Billion from the US for F-35 Fighter Jets, Patriot Missile Systems, and Abrams Tanks

Poland will receive a second $2 billion military loan from the United States as part of a large-scale modernisation programme that will include the purchase of US defence equipment such as F-35 aircraft, Patriot missile systems and Abrams main battle tanks.
This was announced by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
He noted that Poland is implementing a large-scale military modernisation programme, including the purchase of US defence equipment. Thousands of US and NATO troops are also stationed in Poland, including the headquarters of the US V Corps.
The U.S. government is providing up to $60 million in Foreign Military Financing to subsidise the interest rate on this loan, which will help accelerate Poland's defence modernisation by supporting urgent procurement of defence goods and services from the United States, the statement said.
The loan funds will contribute to Poland's further military modernisation in a wide range of capabilities, which will make a significant contribution to strengthening the defence and deterrence of NATO's eastern flank.
As a reminder, Ukraine signed a security agreement with Poland the day before. The document provides for the interception of Russian missiles and drones by Polish defence forces.
