President of South Korea: DPRK's 12,000 Troops in Russia Are ‘Serious’ Threat to the World
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has said that North Korea's participation in Russia's war against Ukraine poses a ‘serious threat’ to global security. This was reported by Politico.
Yoon Suk Yeol held a security meeting with key intelligence, army and national security officials to discuss Pyongyang's involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine.
The meeting participants reportedly agreed that the current situation poses a ‘serious security threat’ to South Korea and the entire international community.
South Korea's intelligence agency said on Friday that the DPRK has already begun deploying four brigades totalling 12,000 troops, including special forces, to participate in the war in Ukraine.
For his part, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, told The War Zone that about 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are currently undergoing training in eastern Russia. They will be ready to take part in hostilities against Ukraine as early as 1 November.
In June, Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that obliges both countries to provide military assistance to each other in the event of an attack on one of them.
