Prime Minister of Bulgaria Arrives in Ukraine on Solidarity Visit
Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov arrived in Ukraine today on a visit of support and solidarity, BNT reports.
The Bulgarian delegation arrived in Kyiv by train along with the Prime Minister. The Bulgarian delegation also includes the ministers of justice, environment and energy - Atanas Slavov, Yulian Popov and Rumen Radev, deputy ministers of defence and foreign affairs - Stanimir Georgiev and Tikhomir Stoychev, as well as the chief of defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov.
The programme of the visit is being kept secret for security reasons. Meetings with officials are expected.
Prime Minister Denkov's visit comes just after Ukraine marked two years since the start of the Russian war and after four European leaders visited Kyiv.
This is the second visit by a Bulgarian prime minister since the start of the war.
The Bulgarian government said that Denkov came to express Bulgaria's support for Ukraine.
"Bulgaria supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders," the official government Twitter account (X) quoted Denkov as saying.
To recap, four European leaders visited Kyiv in solidarity with Ukraine on the anniversary of the war. The president of the European Commission and the prime ministers of Italy, Canada and Belgium arrived in Kyiv on Saturday to show solidarity with Ukraine on the second anniversary of Russia's invasion. Ursula von der Leyen, Georgia Maloney, Justin Trudeau and Alexandre De Croo travelled to the Ukrainian capital overnight by train from neighbouring Poland.
On 24 February, Ukraine commemorated the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians from the Gostomel airport, where European leaders who had come to support Ukraine had gathered that day.
