U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has suggested that President Donald Trump could hold another meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York as early as next week.

The Gaze reports this, referring to LBC News.

Speaking to reporters, Rubio underlined Trump’s active role in seeking an end to Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine, insisting that “no leader in the world has done more to stop this war than Trump.”

According to Rubio, Trump and Zelenskyy have held “multiple phone calls” and “multiple meetings” in recent months, with another likely to take place during the president’s visit to New York.

He also reiterated that Trump “inherited this three-year war from the Biden administration” and is working intensively with European partners to develop security guarantees that would underpin any eventual peace settlement.

The two leaders last met in August, shortly after Trump held his first talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Those discussions were followed by a surge in Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. During one such assault, Russian drones violated Polish airspace, prompting alarm across NATO’s eastern flank.

In the aftermath, Zelenskyy urged the White House to take a firmer stance on sanctions against Moscow and to provide credible security assurances for Ukraine, arguing that only a clear and united Western position could deter the Kremlin and bring the war to an end.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Senator Lindsey Graham, joined by Representative Brian Fitzpatrick, proposed attaching a Russia sanctions bill to the resolution on continued federal government funding. The strategy is designed to accelerate the passage of punitive measures against Moscow.
