Russian terror in Ukraine is evidence that the battle for Europe is still ongoing. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference in Paris with President of France Emmanuel Macron.
"These days, in France, in Normandy, in many other places of the world, the heroism of people during the Second World War was remembered. And everyone understands what that heroism was for. At Omaha Beach, we could all see what it was like, we saw documentary chronicles, we heard in memoirs. And all these images, all those emotions were very reminiscent of what our men, women, our soldiers at the front, our people in frontline cities, communities, and everywhere in Ukraine where life is being affected by Russian terror. All this is a clear indication that the battle for Europe is still ongoing," the President of Ukraine said.
"The future of our nations is still undecided. And this is exactly what we have to do - Ukraine, France, our allies. Europe must remain a space of peace, a space of freedom, not of violence or hatred spread by regimes such as Russia's," Zelenskyy added.
Joint efforts can ensure this, and the attitude of France and the French people towards Ukraine and Ukrainians is evidence of this, the President of Ukraine stressed.
He thanked the President of France and the people of France for their support of Ukraine, for their attention and care that Ukraine managed to protect itself and all Europeans.
"Freedom is not just words on paper, even the most important conventions and declarations. It is not something that people inherit from their parents or receive as a gift from someone else. Freedom is a very fragile and precious feeling that we are all, in one way or another, connected by something invisible but extremely strong. This is especially true when we defend ourselves. Anyone who defends their freedom, their rights, their independence, their dignity, strengthens their freedom and the freedom of those around them. Freedom has this property and spreads from person to person," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
