Six Killed in Russian Missile Attack on Kyiv

On June 23, a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv and surrounding regions killed six people in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS), The Gaze reports.
The assault caused widespread destruction across 25 locations in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, with direct missile hits reported in at least six areas. The Shevchenkivskyi district suffered the heaviest losses: an entire section of a high-rise residential building was destroyed.
Ten people were rescued from the rubble, including a child and a pregnant woman. Emergency teams continue searching for survivors, as more people are feared trapped under the debris.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, out of the 370 aerial threats launched (354 drones and 16 missiles), 339 drones and 15 missiles were successfully intercepted. However, the sheer scale of the assault led to extensive damage from falling debris and shockwaves.
Elsewhere in Kyiv Oblast, particularly in Bila Tserkva, residential buildings and medical infrastructure were damaged. One person was killed and at least eight were injured. Two emergency responders sustained injuries while working to clear the aftermath of the attack.
More than 400 rescue workers and 100 units of emergency equipment are currently deployed across affected sites. Medical and psychological support is being provided to victims and survivors. The situation remains fluid as recovery operations continue.
As The Gaze previously reported, in the early hours of June 20, Odesa was subjected to a massive drone strike by Russian forces, resulting in one fatality and at least 14 injuries, including three emergency responders.
