Slovakia Becomes 12th EU Country to Purchase Azerbaijani Gas
On 1 December 2024, Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR began supplying gas to Slovakia's largest state-owned energy supplier, SPP. This was reported by the SOCAR press service.
The supply is carried out under a short-term pilot agreement between SOCAR and SPP aimed at cooperation. The parties intend to develop a long-term energy partnership, the statement said.
Thus, along with Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia, Slovakia has become the twelfth country to receive Azerbaijani gas.
As The Gaze previously reported, Slovakia's main gas buyer, SPP, has signed a short-term pilot contract for the purchase of natural gas from Azerbaijan and will consider a long-term agreement in the event of a possible interruption of supplies from Russia via Ukraine.
