EU Welcomes Armenia, Azerbaijan on Conclusion of Peace Negotiations

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas welcomed Armenia and Azerbaijan on the conclusion of negotiations on a peace agreement, the Diplomatic Service of the European Union reports.
‘The European Union welcomes the respective announcements made by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the finalisation of their negotiations on the draft Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations. We commend both sides for their persistent work over the past few years in this direction, both on the bilateral track and with the involvement of the international community. The EU welcomes Armenia paving the way for the finalisation of the text,’ the statement said.
As noted, such an announcement by both states is an important step towards establishing stable peace and security in the region. The European Union fully supports the process of normalisation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and is ready to provide additional assistance or expert support if the parties need it.
As The Gaze previously reported, in 2023, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced further normalisation of relations, movement towards peace and exchange of prisoners.
