Sweden, Norway, Denmark Pledge $500 Million for U.S.-Made Arms to Ukraine

Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have jointly committed approximately $500 million (5 billion Norwegian kroner) to fund a new NATO initiative aimed at delivering U.S.-manufactured military equipment to Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to NATO’s announcement.
The joint contribution will support the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), a fast-track mechanism designed to address Ukraine’s most urgent defense needs by accelerating the supply of American weapons and equipment.
The funds will help deliver critical air defense systems, including additional missiles for the Patriot system, as well as ammunition and other essential equipment. Norway will initially allocate 1.5 billion kroner to the initiative, while the combined effort with Sweden and Denmark will fund a full support package valued at approximately $500 million.
“This summer, we have witnessed Russia’s relentless and illegal attacks across the front line and against civilian infrastructure,” said Norwegian Defense Minister Geir Håkon Sandvik. “Through this contribution, we aim to ensure Ukraine can swiftly access the equipment it needs, while also deepening NATO’s cooperation on Ukraine’s defense and reinforcing peace on Ukraine’s terms.”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed the Nordic countries’ swift and united action, emphasizing their consistent backing of Ukraine since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion. “This vital support will strengthen Ukraine’s position on the front lines and help deter further aggression,” Rutte stated.
The PURL initiative is coordinated by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), who will oversee procurement, delivery, and even maintenance or upgrades of previously supplied equipment. Each package under PURL is expected to have a value of around $500 million.
