At the Geneva Motor Show, Swiss company Micro unveiled the serial version of its miniature electric car Microlino Lite, designed for urban travel. It is best suited for cities with narrow and busy streets, according to The Verge.
In its standard configuration, the Microlino Lite comes with a 5.5 kWh battery, providing about 100 km of range without recharge. A larger 11 kWh battery option is also available, offering up to 177 km of range. The 5.5 kWh battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in about 2 hours.
The Microlino Lite features a sturdy steel construction. Its overall dimensions are 2.5 meters in length, 1.47 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height, with a weight of less than 600 kilograms. The maximum speed of the car is 45 km/h. It comes with a roof hatch and a 230-liter boot.
This compact car is suitable for commuting to work, quick trips to the market, school runs, and transporting pets. Its compact size allows parking three Microlino Lite cars in a regular parking space.
The Microlino Lite is classified as a L6e class vehicle, so anyone with AM moped driving licence can operate it in Europe. Due to its specifications, in some countries, even teenagers who have not reached the legal driving age can drive it. For instance, in France and Italy, the electric car can be driven from the age of 14, while in Sweden or Germany, from the age of 15.
The Microlino Lite will be available for lease. The base model can be leased for 149 Swiss francs per month (approximately €156) for a 48-month contract with a mileage limit of up to 5000 kilometres per year. The car will hit European roads this summer.
Earlier, The Gaze reported that UK Transport Minister Mark Harper expressed confidence that autonomous vehicles could appear on the country's roads by 2026. It is expected that the legislative framework for this will be created by the end of 2024, and implementation will take some time, so that the decision will take effect in 2026.
