The third richest man in the world is no longer a bachelor
Billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner, TV host, Lauren Sanchez are engaged, The Daily Mail reports.
In several recent photos from aboard $500 million superyacht 'Koru', the happy 53-year-old bride is seen wearing a precious engagement ring. Journalists assume that the diamond, "the size of a Balearic Island," indicates that Sanchez said 'yes' to her 59-year-old boyfriend's proposal.
Bezos and Sanchez were first spotted together in 2019. It was against the backdrop of the billionaire's divorce from his first wife, Mackenzie, after 25 years of marriage. Back then, Bezos tried not to publicize his new relationship with Sanchez. However, the details of their life together were still spotted by the paparazzi.
Bezos and Sanchez gave their first joint interview to CNN last year at their sprawling Washington, D.C. home. It was about their joint philanthropic activities, for which the Amazon founder's fortune was also used. Sanchez then said that when it comes to working together, "We’re really great teammates."
Describing a Saturday night with their family, Jeff and Lauren jokingly said it was "pretty typical."
"We can be kind of boring," Sanchez laughed. "I would say normal. We have dinner with the kids. That’s always fun and a great conversation. There’s seven between us, so there’s a lot of discussion. And then we watch a movie … by committee. It takes a long time to find that movie," Bezos smiled.
Sanchez also serves as the vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund as the couple makes good on their $10 billion commitment to help Africa’s restoration movement, combat climate change and preserve nature.
Bezos is the third richest man on the planet. His company, New Shepard, manufactures rockets and aims to "open the way to space for everyone." Bezos himself flew to space in 2021 on a rocket produced by his own space company.
"I truly believe that space travel will become available to everyone," Bezos said back then.
Lauren Sanchez also intends to go to space in the coming years, noting that she will be joined by a "wonderful group of women."
Sanchez was previously married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell for 13 years and has children from a previous marriage. Jeff Bezos also has four children from his marriage to Mackenzie Scott, which lasted 25 years. Bezos' divorce was the most expensive in history. His ex-wife received a 4% stake in Amazon, worth more than $35 billion.
