World-famous stars share the pain along with the fans:
“I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her,” Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, wrote on Twitter.
88-year-old fashion designer Giorgio Armani also said goodbye to the singer
“I heard of the passing of Tina Turner with sadness and disbelief: with her incredible energy she seemed eternal. Her music certainly is. I will miss a great friend, whom I have also had the pleasure to dress many times. In life, she was like she was on stage - pure energy. I am deeply saddened."
Turner found fame in the 1960s alongside ex-husband Ike Turner, and they released the world-famous hits River Deep, Mountain High and Nutbush City Limits.
Her popularity waned by the end of the 1970s and her days in the limelight appeared over. However, in 1983, Tina Turner released a cover of Al Green's Let's Stay Together, which became the singer's revival. At the same time, she signed a contract with Capitol Records, and later in 1984, the legendary album Private Dancer was released. Turner became a mega-star.
10 years ago, Tina Turner became a Swiss citizen and settled with her husband, EMI record executive Erwin Bach, in their estate on Lake Zurich, where she died on May 24, 2023.
