Three Red Cross Workers Killed in Ukraine by Russian Terrorist Attack on Humanitarian Truck
On the morning of 12 September, Russian troops launched an artillery attack on a humanitarian aid truck in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The shelling killed three members of the International Committee of the Red Cross and injured two others.
This was reported on social media by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
One of the shells hit the territory of a local enterprise where people were working. The attack destroyed a truck with humanitarian aid and a car.
The dead and wounded were ICRC staff members who were in the truck when it was shelled.
In addition, the private sector of Kostyantynivka was hit - 7 houses and a power line were damaged.
Zelenskyy called on the world to take more decisive action to stop the terror of the Russian Federation.
‘As of now, we know about two wounded - they are being provided with all necessary assistance. Unfortunately, three people were killed by this Russian strike. My condolences to their families and friends.
Everything is absolutely clear in this war: Russia brings evil, Ukraine defends life. And if someone wants to hear ‘both sides’, then in Russia this is perceived only as a permission to kill further.
The world must react firmly and on principle. Countries and international organisations cannot remain indifferent. Only together can the world force Russia to stop this terror and make Moscow seek peace,’ he wrote on Facebook.
