Top Beer Destinations in Europe: Madrid Surprisingly Takes the Lead

Beer is a staple drink in most European cultures. Each country and city has its own way of celebrating the frothy drink: some with lively beer festivals and thousands of bars and pubs, others with innovative breweries. Whether you're a fan of ale, stout or craft beer, there's more to enjoying a top-notch draft beer than just the taste.
DFDS has analysed 40,000 Google reviews of 70 European cities and analysed social media to identify the best cities for beer on the continent based on quality, social media reviews, the city's bar and pub offerings and price.
So, where is the best place to drink beer in Europe? Some call Munich the world capital of beer. But not this time.
The Spanish capital of Madrid received 90 out of 100 points for beer quality and 93 out of 100 points for social media reviews, giving it an overall score of 85.
In second place was Prague, which scored 96 points for price - after all, a pint here costs just €2.17 (£1.86).
Vienna received a bronze and 92 points for the quality of its bars and pubs, with all those luxurious bars and shiny roofs.
