Day Two Recap: Zelenskyy Strengthens Czech-Ukrainian Defense, Unity & EU Goals

During the second day of his official visit to Prague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Czech leaders advanced key defense and humanitarian initiatives while reaffirming joint efforts to support Ukraine’s EU integration and postwar recovery, The Gaze reports.
Unity Center for Ukrainians Abroad
Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed an agreement to open a Ukrainian unity center in Prague — the second of its kind in Europe.
“This is an ongoing work. I only understand when it started — I don’t know when it will end, how many such hubs we will need to keep in touch with Ukrainians abroad,” President Zelenskyy stated.
The center will provide legal assistance, employment guidance, and help maintain ties between Ukraine and its diaspora. Germany, Spain, and Poland are also in line to host similar hubs. Czech PM Petr Fiala noted that 160,000 Ukrainians currently work in Czechia.
Expanding Defense and Economic Cooperation
In talks with Prime Minister Fiala, President Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Czech support, including the artillery initiative and training of Ukrainian pilots.
“I am confident that we will continue to create jobs and ensure economic growth for both our countries through defense cooperation,” said Zelenskyy.
Discussions included energy independence, joint nuclear and infrastructure projects, and Czechia’s role in rebuilding Ukraine’s healthcare sector.
Parliamentary Support
Zelenskyy met with Senate President Miloš Vystrčil and members of the Chamber of Deputies, thanking them for multiple resolutions in Ukraine’s support.
“We are grateful to have such friends and partners,” Zelenskyy said. He urged continued pressure on Russia and faster progress on EU accession talks.
Engaging with Czech Youth and Industry
At Charles University, the President discussed postwar reconstruction and Ukraine’s European future.
“Our children are much stronger than all of us. I’m sure they will defend the true values of our countries,” he emphasized.
He also met with CEOs of Czech defense companies, praising their contributions to joint weapons production.
“Ukraine’s security is Europe’s security,” Zelenskyy noted.
