Ukraine and the Philippines agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of food security during an online meeting attended by deputy heads of relevant offices of both countries.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

On behalf of the President of Ukraine and the Head of the Office of the President, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva held an online meeting with Deputy Director General of the National Security Council of the Republic of the Philippines Nestor Gerico.

During the conversation, Ihor Zhovkva expressed gratitude to the Philippines for their consistent and principled support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is extremely important in the context of today's challenges.

The counterparts also discussed in detail the results of the historic first visit of the President of Ukraine to the Philippines, which took place in June last year, noting its significance for the development of bilateral relations. Ihor Zhovkva and Nestor Gerico agreed that further deepening of cooperation should take place not only in the field of defense and security, but also in the trade and economic sector.

During the negotiations, particular attention was paid to the prospects for mutually beneficial partnership in the field of food security and the creation of effective institutional mechanisms for its implementation.

As a result, the parties agreed to intensify work on signing an Agreement on the establishment of a Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, marking an important step toward further development of bilateral relations.

“Despite the war, Ukraine remains an unwavering guarantor of food security in the world. We are ready for closer cooperation with the Philippines in ensuring the supply of Ukrainian products to countries in the region,” emphasized Ihor Zhovkva.

Ukraine announced its readiness to work together on cybersecurity, fighting misinformation, and strengthening information resilience. During the meeting, officials also considered future contacts between the leaders of both countries.

As The Gaze informed earlier, at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Philippine and Ukrainian defense officials met to explore strengthening their bilateral defense cooperation amid changing global security dynamics.
