Ukraine has completed the transition to European electricity trading rules and joint auctions for access to interstate cross-border electricity transmission routes with Moldova were held on the platform of state-owned enterprise Ukrenergo, the electricity transmission system operator. For the first time, the right to supply electricity for a whole month was auctioned.

"Ukrenergo held the first joint monthly auctions for access to cross-border electricity transmission lines with Moldova. Thus, Ukraine has completed the transition to European electricity trading rules".

This was reported by the press service of NPC Ukrenergo.

"Ukraine has completed the transition to European electricity trading rules. Joint auctions for access to interconnectors with Moldova were held on the Ukrenergo platform. For the first time, the right to supply electricity for a whole month was auctioned off," the statement said.

In the direction of Ukraine-Moldova (UA-MD), the allocated throughput capacity was 463 MW. In the Moldova-Ukraine (MD-UA) direction, the capacity was 96 MW.

All available capacity in each direction was distributed among 4 participants. The total number of participants in the UA-MD direction was 8, and in the MD-UA direction - 9.

The daily auctions with Moldova are scheduled for Thursday, 29 February, with the delivery day on 1 March. The time and volume of the allocated capacity will be announced the day before.

Ukraine already holds joint daily auctions with other European neighbouring countries: from 2 November with Romania, from 16 January with Poland, and from 22 February with Hungary. The first joint auction with Slovakia is scheduled for 4 March.

The European energy association ENTSO-E has decided to increase the maximum limit for the export of Ukrainian electricity from Ukraine and Moldova to EU countries to 550 MW per hour from 1 March.
