Ukraine Secures $1.5 Billion from European Allies for US Weapons, Zelenskyy Says

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that partners have contributed $1.5 billion to NATO's PURL initiative, through which Ukraine purchases weapons from the United States.
The Gaze writes about it, referring to his post on social media.
"Our new PURL defence support initiative, implemented jointly with our partners, is already yielding tangible results. To date, we already have $1.5 billion. Thanks to NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List initiative, NATO member states can cooperate to purchase US-made weapons for Ukraine. This is a mechanism that truly strengthens our defence," Zelenskyy emphasised.
He noted that to date, the Netherlands has contributed $500 million, Denmark, Norway and Sweden have contributed a combined $500 million, and yesterday Germany added another $500 million.
‘This is a truly significant reinforcement, and I am grateful to Germany for this important step,’ the President said.
He stressed that every contribution within the PURL is a direct investment in Ukraine's ability to protect people's lives and bring about a dignified peace.
The President thanked the allies for their support.
The PURL initiative is a new mechanism focused on supplying Ukraine with weapons from a list of priority needs. It enables NATO member countries to finance the supply of American weapons and technology through voluntary contributions.
