On 7 September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that if it is confirmed that Iran has transferred ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation, this will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations.

This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

‘Iran must completely and finally stop providing weapons to Russia in order to prove by actions, not words, the sincerity of its political leadership's statements about its non-involvement in fuelling the Russian military killing machine,’ the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

The statement comes amid reports in the international media about Iran's possible transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia.

‘For more than two years now, Ukraine and Ukrainians have been suffering daily from Russian terrorist shelling with all kinds of deadly weapons, including Iranian-made drones. The deepening of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran poses serious security threats not only to Ukraine, but also to the whole of Europe, the Middle East and the world,’ the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The diplomats called on the international community to increase pressure on Tehran and Moscow to protect international peace and security.

‘We warn the official Tehran that if the fact of Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation is confirmed, it will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations,’ the Foreign Ministry added.

As The Wall Street Journal previously reported, citing intelligence sources, the United States informed its allies that Iran had sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.

According to the newspaper, the transfer took place against the backdrop of Russia's increased missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, which have killed dozens of people in recent days.
