Ukrainian Drones Hit Gazprom Neftokhim Plant 1400 km Inside Russia

On September 18, two drones attacked the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Bashkortostan.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Radio Svoboda and Interfax-Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) confirmed a drone attack at a distance of about 1,400 km on the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat petrochemical complex in Bashkortostan.
According to the special services, the drones hit the ELOU-AVT-4 unit, which is key for oil purification and the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, and fuel oil. A large fire broke out at the plant, accompanied by black smoke.
Radiy Khabirov, head of Bashkortostan, also verified the attack, noting that the plant's security guards opened fire on the drones.
“Two aircraft-type drones attacked the enterprise... The enterprise's security guards opened fire to destroy them. We are assessing the extent of the damage. We are currently extinguishing the fire, and all services are on site,” he wrote.
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is the largest oil refining complex in southern Bashkortostan, carrying out a full cycle of hydrocarbon processing and producing more than 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and polyethylene.
This is not the first attack on Bashkortostan enterprises. For example, in May 2024, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat was already attacked by drones, and on September 13, 2025, the Bashneft enterprise was attacked in Ufa.
Ukrainian Security Service officials emphasize that such actions are aimed at systematically reducing Russia's ability to wage war against Ukraine.
"The SSU is systematically blocking the flow of petrodollars into the Russian military budget. Each “cotton” strike on a Russian oil refinery reduces the aggressor's ability to wage war against Ukraine. Deep strikes into the Russian Federation demonstrate that there are no longer any safe regions for the enemy," a source from the SSU reported.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneft has limited oil storage capacity and warned of possible production cuts following Ukrainian drone attacks on key ports and oil refineries.
