A Ukrainian intelligence operation has struck one of Russia’s most important logistics arteries, derailing a freight train and temporarily stopping traffic on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR).

According to Ukrainian intelligence sources, the blast occurred near the settlement of Sosnovka in Khabarovsk Krai and was part of an effort to disrupt Russia’s east–west military supply chain.

The sabotage targeted cargo routes believed to be transporting weapons and ammunition to Russia, including consignments reportedly arriving from North Korea.

“The explosion derailed a freight train and caused significant damage to the rail line,” an intelligence official said, adding that the operation was conducted by the Ukrainian military intelligence service.

Stretching more than 9,000 kilometers from Moscow to Vladivostok, the Trans-Siberian Railway remains the backbone of Russia’s long-distance logistics network.

It plays a central role in moving military matériel across the country, particularly equipment bound for front-line units in Ukraine.

HUR officials released footage describing the mission’s preparation and execution, framing it as part of a systematic campaign to degrade Russia’s ability to sustain its war effort.

The agency said the strike once again exposed Russia’s failure to secure even its most vital transport infrastructure.

“Work to dismantle the enemy’s logistics continues,” the intelligence service emphasized, indicating more such operations are planned.

The attack follows a similar incident earlier this week, when an explosion damaged a railway segment in the Leningrad region used to move Russian military cargo between Pskov and St. Petersburg.

Over the past two weeks, Ukrainian partisans and intelligence units have struck a key station in occupied Crimea and ignited an oil depot near the strategic Likhovskaya junction in the Rostov region.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Russia plans to bring in about 12,000 North Korean workers to make long-range drones in Tatarstan to keep up terrorist attacks on Ukraine.
