Ukrainian National Team Win Gold, Silver, Bronze at European Modern Pentathlon Championships

The Ukrainian national team has won a full set of awards at the European Modern Pentathlon Championships in Budapest (Hungary).
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine reported it on Facebook.
Oleksandr Tovkay won gold in the individual competition.
Silver: Oleksandr Tovkay, Yuriy Kovalchuk and Hordiy Berezniakov (team competition).
Yuriy Kovalchuk was recognised as the best rider of the European Championships.
Bronze medal: Pavel Timoshenko and Alexander Tovkay (relay).
The European Modern Pentathlon Championships were the last competition before the 2024 Olympic Games. The championships featured medals in the individual competition among men and women, relay races, and the best in the team competition. The result of the team championship was determined by the sum of points earned by all participants from the country in individual competitions.
None of the Ukrainian women managed to make it to the finals in the individual competition, while the Ukrainians finished eighth in the relay. In the team event, Ukraine finished sixth among women.
As The Gaze previously reported, on 7 July, Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh broke the previous world record of 2.09m, which had stood for 37 years and was set by Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova in Rome in 1987.
The Ukrainian athlete raised the bar to 2.10m and cleared it on her first attempt.
