Ukrainian Rescuers Participate in Large-Scale EU Joint Exercises in Poland

Ukrainian rescuers are actively engaged in the extensive EU MODEX CYCLE 12 training exercises held in Poland under the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS).
A contingent of 51 Ukrainian specialists accompanied by nine units of specialized equipment has been deployed to Poland to take part in these crucial multinational drills.
Ukraine is represented by its certified Urban Search and Rescue module, recognized by the EU as a vital pillar of the country’s national emergency response framework. This certification reflects the advanced training and readiness of Ukrainian teams, aligning with stringent European standards.
The exercises have brought together around 500 participants from various European countries. Besides Ukraine, rescue teams from Austria, Germany, Poland, and France are participating, fostering valuable experience exchange and the development of coordinated approaches to disaster response.
The training focuses on enhancing interoperability among teams, harmonizing emergency protocols, and strengthening joint response capabilities according to unified EU standards.
The drills simulate real-life scenarios, with teams receiving live updates on incident locations and mission tasks in real time. The Ukrainian team has already conducted reconnaissance, identified priority areas for search and rescue operations, and established an operational framework.
Additionally, Ukraine has set up a base camp to support the wellbeing of its rescuers and actively participates in the joint coordination headquarters managing all international teams.
As The Gaze reported earlier, at military exercises in Estonia, Ukrainian instructors are sharing their experience in the combat use of drones.
