US President Announces New Military Aid Package to Ukraine on Independence Day
On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, US President Joe Biden confirmed the allocation of a new military aid package in a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This is stated in a statement from the White House.
During his conversation with Zelenskyy, Biden expressed America's unwavering support for the people of Ukraine and reaffirmed that Ukraine will remain a ‘free, sovereign and independent country.’
He added that the US would announce a new military aid package for Ukraine by the end of Thursday.
‘The package includes air defence missiles to protect Ukraine's critical infrastructure; anti-drone equipment and anti-tank missiles to defend against Russia's evolving tactics on the battlefield; and ammunition for soldiers on the front lines and mobile missile systems to protect them,’ Biden listed.
The US president also recalled the introduction of additional sanctions against nearly 400 legal entities and individuals who contribute to Russia's illegal war.
Earlier, the media reported that the new US military aid package will include equipment worth up to $125 million, which will be delivered from US army warehouses.
The last military aid package worth USD 200 million was announced in late July.
