US President Trump Extends Sanctions Against Russia for Another Year Over Ukraine Invasion

US President Donald Trump announced the day before that he would extend for another year the US sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
This is stated in the official announcement of the President, published in the US Federal Register, which comes into force on 28 February.
‘Pursuant to Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am extending for one year the national emergency declared by Executive Order 13660,’ the document says.
It is noted that the state of emergency related to the situation in Ukraine, which includes sanctions imposed in March and December 2014, as well as in September 2018 and February 2022 by decrees of previous US presidents, is extended.
The US national emergency decrees and sanctions against foreign countries declared by the US President are valid for one year. After that, they are extended by a separate order of the head of the White House for another year.
As reported by The Gaze, today President Zelenskyy will arrive in the United States, where he is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump to sign an agreement on mineral development in Ukraine.
