UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution Condemning Russian Invasion of Ukraine – US, Russia Vote Against

The UN General Assembly adopted a Ukrainian resolution condemning Russian aggression. The document was voted against by 18 countries, including the United States, which had previously criticised it. This was reported by the EU delegation to the UN on social media platform X.
The resolution received the support of 93 countries, while those who voted against it included the United States, Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Israel, the DPRK, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Mali, Sudan, Niger, Nicaragua, Palau, and the Marshall Islands.
The document proposed by the EU and Ukraine refers to the ‘full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation’ and demands that Russia ‘immediately, fully and unconditionally withdraw all its armed forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders’.
At the same time, the short draft US resolution expresses sorrow over the ‘tragic loss of life during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict’ and ‘calls for a swift end to the conflict and further calls for a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia’.
Earlier, the media reported that the United States was putting pressure on other countries to not support the Ukrainian draft resolution and to vote for the American version.
As reported by The Gaze, in a series of inflammatory remarks, Trump criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying he was ‘disappointed’ in him. Trump did not like the fact that Zelenskyy complained about Ukraine's exclusion from US-Russian talks in Saudi Arabia.
In response, Zelenskyy said that US leader Donald Trump was ‘trapped’ in Russia's ‘disinformation bubble’.
‘Unfortunately, President Trump, with all due respect to him as the leader of a nation that we respect very much... has fallen into the trap of this disinformation bubble,’ Zelenskyy said at a press conference in Kyiv.
