President Zelenskyy Meets Irish Prime Minister on His Way to US to Discuss Support for Ukraine

On his way to the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stopped at Ireland's Shannon Airport to meet with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, RTÉ reports.  

Zelenskyy arrived at Shannon Airport in the west of Ireland on Thursday afternoon, where he was met by Martin.  

He expressed his joy at being in the country and meeting with the Irish prime minister, and thanked the Irish people for their support of Ukrainians who were forced to flee their homes due to Russia's full-scale invasion.  

The leaders then went to the airport's VIP lounge for talks.

On his Facebook page, Zelenskyy described what was discussed in the conversation.

‘We discussed steps toward ending the war with a guaranteed peace for Ukraine and all of Europe, the importance of unity between Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and all those committed to global stability on this path. We also talked about security guarantees and cooperation on Ukraine’s path to the EU. We are grateful to Ireland for standing with us in all of these areas.

We also addressed Ireland’s participation in the Demining Coalition and EU training missions, as well as non-lethal security assistance that will help save lives. Additionally, we discussed our humanitarian initiative, Food from Ukraine, and how Ireland can contribute,’ the Ukrainian leader wrote.

Earlier, Michael Martin cancelled a planned visit to Belfast to meet with the Ukrainian president.  

Zelenskyy is currently heading to the United States, where he is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump to sign an agreement on mineral development in Ukraine.

According to The Gaze, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the agreement between Ukraine and the US on minerals and rare earth metals has been agreed and that Ukrainian representatives have been invited to visit the United States.
