US State Department Approves $203.5 Million Sale for M777 Howitzer Support to Ukraine

The US State Department has approved the possible sale to Ukraine of repair, maintenance, and logistical support services for M777 howitzers for a total of $203.5 million.
The Gaze informs this, referring to the Pentagon press release.
According to the report, the first contract, worth $104 million, includes the sale of military equipment to Ukraine, repair services, and support for M777 howitzers and related equipment.
It is noted that the proposed sale of equipment and services will not alter the overall military balance in the region. The main contractor will be BAE Systems, based in Barrow-in-Furness, England.
The second press release states that the US State Department has also decided on the possible sale of transportation, consolidation, and related equipment services to Ukraine with a total value of approximately $99.5 million in response to Ukraine's request to purchase these services to support security assistance programs and other logistical needs.
“The proposed sale will improve Ukraine’s ability to meet current and future threats by further equipping it to conduct self-defense and regional security missions with a more robust local sustainment capability. Ukraine will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces,” the statement reads.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the United States and NATO have launched the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative to expedite the delivery of affordable weapons and systems to Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities.
