Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska arrived in Vienna on Monday for an official visit to the Republic of Austria, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation and to seek stronger European alignment on key security and reconstruction efforts.

The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrinform.

The visit, confirmed by Austria’s Federal Chancellery, features a series of high-level meetings with the country’s top leadership.

President Zelenskyy will be formally welcomed with military honors at Ballhausplatz Square by Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the two presidents are expected to hold private discussions at the presidential residence, with a joint press conference scheduled afterward.

President Zelenskyy is also holding talks with Chancellor Stocker at the Federal Chancellery, focusing on strengthening political, economic, and humanitarian ties between the two nations.

Later today, he is expected to engage with prominent Austrian business leaders in a roundtable discussion dedicated to Ukraine’s post-war recovery, economic resilience, and investment opportunities in strategic sectors.

The visit follows recent remarks by Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, who called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, along with increased pressure on Moscow to engage in meaningful negotiations for a just and lasting peace.

This marks President Zelenskyy’s first visit to Austria since the full-scale Russian invasion began in 2022 and comes at a vital moment in Kyiv’s efforts to mobilize long-term European support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, defense, and EU integration ambitions.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Austria’s Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner has indicated that her country could participate in a future international peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
