On 13 February, the 75th Berlin International Film Festival opened in the German capital. It was reported by Ukrinform.

During the ceremony, British actress Tilda Swinton received the Golden Bear award. The guests were also introduced to the international jury.

After the official opening, the Berlinale Palast hosted the world premiere of the German film Light directed by Tom Tykwer.

This year, the festival will feature more than 200 film premieres in various categories.

On the sidelines of the Berlinale, Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, met with representatives of Germany and other European countries.

For the first time since 1997, the Ukrainian film ‘Timestamp’ by Kateryna Hornostai will compete for the festival's top prize, the Golden Bear, in the main competition programme.

The Berlinale Forum/Forum Expanded section will feature Alexei Radinsky's ‘Special Operation’.

The Forum section will also screen two co-productions about Ukraine ‘Time to the Target’ by Vitaliy Mansky (Ukraine, Latvia, Czech Republic) and ‘When Lightning Flashes Over the Sea’ by Eva Neumann (Ukraine, Germany).

The Berlinale Shorts competition includes the film ‘Looking Back’ by the directorial duo Mila Zhluktenko and Daniel Asadi Faezi.

Two Ukrainian film projects will be presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market - ‘30 Days of Summer’ by Anastasia Solonevych and ‘The Earth is Flat - I Flew Around and Saw It’ by Maksym Nakonechnyi.

Ukrainian director Olga Chernykh, actress Kateryna Molchanova and promotional producer Alisa Kalyuzhna will participate in the Berlinale Talents programme.

At the same time, the European Film Market will host a number of events as part of the initiative ‘Ukraine on Screen. Social Impact of Cinema’, in which the Ukrainian Institute is a partner.
